Vice Versa Block #3

This is a two block a month BOM.  Vice Versa.  I don't usually wait so long to do anything.  Rarely do I have numerous quilts going at once.  I'm a start and finish kinda gal!  Until this month!  March~you kicked my butt this time around!  In the end I won!  I got it done with hours to spare.....ninja warrior, that I am!

I like this block.  Bear's Paw.  I'm leaning towards the block on the right as my favorite.  Maybe!

The more I see these and the other two, the more excited I get!  I cannot wait to put them all together one day!  There are six more months.  Twelve more blocks.  It'll be a while.  Good thing I have the patience of a Ninja...

What do you think?  Which is your favorite?

And So It Begins ~ Again!

In an effort to use my hand dyed fabric, I decided to do another round of half square triangles.    It seems to me that this style of quilt + hand dyed fabrics + color = delicious results.  So, here I am, knee deep in HST's!

Another reason.  Frankly, I want to use up a lot of my hand dyed fabrics.  I'm ready to break out the plastic, dyes and buckets and create some new fabric!

The beginning string.

Sewn and ready to cut.

Cut and ready to iron and trim.

I started with 5" squares.  4 1/2" after all is said and done.  Tiny blocks compared to the previous quilt.  Plus this one will have a border and it will be smaller.

The same, but different!  Happy Sunday!

Way Back When...

Remember when you were celebrating the New Year?  Seems so long ago, doesn't it?!  If the first quarter is any indication...it's going to be busy year!

If you follow my blog, you know that I have been on a half square triangle kick this year.  My first project for the year was this quilt.  I blogged about it about it here.

I finished quilting it a while ago and realized I never showed the finished piece.  So, here it is!

I ended up quilting this one using 1/2" lines in an all over geometric design.  I sectioned off four areas and with my handy dandy hera marker, I carefully marked my lines.  Once marked the rest was a breeze!  Quilting went very fast, my lines lined up, my machine was a good girl and I was thrilled with the finished design!

The finished quilt is 56" x 81" with a crazy scrappy back and a pieced binding.  I ended up listing it in my Etsy Shop a couple weeks ago.  And much to my surprise it sold!

My customer received it and loves it!  She messaged me a couple nights ago to tell me her and her daughter were snuggled underneath it watching a movie together!!  Hearing that made me smile...for many reasons.  One was, what she was doing with her daughter I was doing the exact thing with mine!

Quilts are so much better when they are loved, used and shared!

I have been wanting to host my first giveaway for a while.  When I started blogging I had hoped that I would be able to gain some followers along the way.  I am so thankful that I have!

I'm also thankful for the new magazine Fresh Quilts.  My dream of being in a magazine with a pattern, well... it's priceless to me!

There are lots of fantastic projects in the magazine!  Including my pillows... complete with patterns.

These are mine.

My sister Debbrah, tested my patterns for me!  I love the colors she picked and the quilting...pretty great!  I couldn't have pulled it off without her help!

This gray version was made by Emily.  Recruited by my daughter to help out.  Amazing how different a design looks using different fabrics!  I love this combination!

A Design I'm Happy With!

I have been a little busy.  Maybe obsessed.  Perhaps I even have a bad case of tunnel vision!  Its not all bad.  Its not all good.

Lately I have been working on two new pillow designs.  Trial and error!  It seems to have come together for me and I am satisfied with the finished designs.

What do you think?

I love a good geometric design and a nice punch of color!  This works for me!

Hard to believe...I actually used a print!  I love Briar Rose!  I have a stack of it sitting all pretty on my shelf.  For months.  And months.  For some reason I haven't found the perfect project for this fabric, but was able to spare a few small pieces for this pillow.

FYI:  I even did a little free motion quilting!

Two peas in a pod.  Together at last.

You may think I'm crazy, but to me these are fall colors!  My question to you is this:  What exactly are fall colors?!

UPDATE:  Please enter my GIVEAWAY for a fabulous fat quarter bundle of Hand Dyed Fabric and a copy of Fresh Quilts Magazine!

WIP ~ New Designs

Happy Sunday!  Its such a dreary and gray day this morning.  Perfect for pulling out some bright and cheerful fabric.  Maybe get some long awaited sewing finished or hopefully, figure out some new designs!

I'm working on a few of those right now.  It kind of feels like pulling teeth, but I think I'm getting there!

I thought I would try some pastels.  Not my usual fabric choice, but its always worth a try!

This is better!  A little brighter.  (perfect for today)

When in doubt...use hand dyed!  Perhaps this isn't the best color combination.  Luckily its only a test!  And is isn't finished yet!

So, that's it!  Something new, something in progress and something to brighten my day!

Have you got something you love to do to brighten your day?
