Distorted Thoughts

I don't really want to admit that I have distorted thoughts, but then again...

(I have a giveaway happening right now...please check it out)

The more I look at this piece of 'abstracted improv scrappy distorted illusion', the better I like it!  Negative and positive.  Yin and yang,  Vice and versa.  Black and white.

13 3/4" x 40 3/4"

Quilting this wasn't that difficult.  I knew I didn't want to use white thread and I didn't want black thread on the white.  Black on black.  The sides are  free form wavy lines.  Medium dense I would say.  The center panel I quilted in the ditch, randomly throughout each block.

Quilting something that is black & white has thrown me for a loop!  Do you go black, white or black on black and white on white?  Maybe it depends on the backing.  For a small project like this table runner, I don't think it is an issue.  But for a larger project?  How would you handle it?

I find it interesting the different shapes and designs you get after cutting the blocks (original post:  IMPROV).  It all depends on the layout.  The biggest tip I can give you is play around with your blocks!  You never know what it will turn in to!

  1. That turned out really cool! For a bigger project - I might think about a Grey or neutral type thread so I didn't have to change it so much

  4. I love the bold graphics and all the quilting of your table runner. I am trying to figure out the black and white quilting thread issues myself. I have one ready to quilt all black and white prints with pop of turquoise, and will be piecing soon a black and white with red prints with a touch of gray and have no idea what threads to use yet. Thanks for sharing and linking up to TGIFF.
