I'm going with my most recent finish, still hot off the machine actually! I thought it would make for a good entry in the ORIGINAL Design Category.
It has gone through many months of change. It started as a tiny thought that went through many different phases of design. Just when I thought I was dead in the water, another idea would pop in to my head!
ENCAPSULATED 48" x 65" |
There were so many twists and turns along the way, but so worth it! I'm in love with the Art Deco vibe.
The center was a thread nightmare! There were so many threads to bury in the end. I wanted to keep the center clean, meaning I used white thread!
You really get a sense of the quilting detail through the back. Except for the black thread on black...hard to get a good picture of that!
I blogged regularly about this quilt. If you are interested in reading more here are all the links:

This quilt is beautiful, I love the details and the quilting, but my favourite is the overall design.
ReplyDeleteTrying to create something 'unseen' before was a big goal while making this quilt!! Thank you Leanne!
DeleteI love the design of the quilt, the fabrics, shapes, colors, and quilting work so well together.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is anything better than when a design/quilt finally comes together! It makes the hair pulling so worth it!
DeleteI love everything about this quilt. Exquisite! Nadine in NorCali
ReplyDeleteThank you Nadine! The process was agonizing at times, but also so much fun!
DeleteAwesome. Love that you think outside the box 😀
ReplyDeleteAren't you clever! My favourite part is the tiny confetti squares : )
ReplyDeleteI try to be clever once in a while! Keeps things interesting!
DeleteThis quilt is just amazing! Best of luck with the Festival :)
ReplyDeleteThis quilt was one that pushed me from one end to the other!
DeleteI just love those little bitty confetti squares, just tossed with all the perfect stripes...it is an amazing finish!
ReplyDeleteI think the little confetti squares are my favorite too! I certainly had some ups and downs with this quilt, but love that it turned out to be something really 'out there'!
DeleteI've watched you work on this piece and it's so neat. I like it immensely. Super work.
ReplyDeleteI voted for you! This quilt turned out so cool. Glad you entered it into original design, perfect. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the confetti in this design - so cute that it's totally random! The quilt overview reminds me of the layout of a passenger vehicle (but maybe I'm surrounded by a vehicle obsessed kid!) Excellent design.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how we see things differently?! This quilt and the design were a process…long…but I couldn't have been happier with it! I enjoy trying to create something that is different. The confetti or small squares are another fun technique that I love to do.
