| Cacti Pot Holders |
The ever popular and always a adorable Cacti! This succulent paper pieced pattern has been on my to-do list for quite a while. I knew one day I would find the time to give it a try.
The pattern is by Amanda at Material Girl Quilts. The pattern has four different cactus plants each in their own little pots, and all neatly set upon a shelf. I was so happy to rediscover this tutorial! It worked well for these pot holders, but it also gave me an idea for a secret Santa gift!
I reduced this Cactus to 75% so it would fit a pot holder.
The Agave had a little more modifications. It was reduced to 65% and I made the pot smaller.
The Succulent Shelf pattern is interchangeable, meaning you can swap pots or cacti! Very smart!
I'm thinking if you did one of each cactus in the same color scheme...that would make for an even better set! Next time, right?!
I have also been working on tagging ideas for the show. It has been fun, but also time consuming.
I was determined that the pot holder sets needed to be wrangled and kept together! This is my solution. A simply designed tag and ribbon. I really like how it turned out. The sets will stay together and have enough room for pricing.
Little hang tags were put together for the smaller items. There won't be any confusion on who made these!
Thankfully I'm finished with everything for this show! Tomorrow they will be off to their final resting place, tucked somewhere among the other talented artists.
It does seem like this time of the year is always full of distractions. How do you handle the stress and do you get distracted?

Distractions? No! I have to admit that my husband and I long ago gifted each other with the best gift for the season: no pressure. We purposely do not travel during this time, and although our families would love us back home, they have yet to take us up on the offer of coming to us, either! On Thanksgiving day, we'll sleep in and do what we want, when we want. The day after Thanksgiving we host "Friendsgiving", a potluck where people can bring their leftovers and hang out at our place. This year we're expecting to have around 18 people in the house. Same goes for Christmas. We don't even typically plan on getting gifts for one another and opt to do things during the year and to pay for experiences together. Now, my husband's birthday is Dec. 26th and our wedding anniversary is Dec. 27th, so we do have a lot crammed in there. I think this year we might go on a small road trip during the holiday break, but we have no firm plans, yet. Now I feel like I am just rambling... I hope that the pop-up show goes really well for you. Those tags are super cute!
ReplyDeleteI love how you spend the holidays Yvonne! The more years we accumulate, the less 'things' we need or want! I love spending a quite evening at home with my husband and 2 children. We all tend to be busy doing what we do everyday, its nice to let it go and take a break!

ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about plants, however I have an aloe plant that I just can't seem to revive. I thought succulents were the easiest plants to grow!

DeleteThese are all gorgeous! Love the cacti, the bag and the potholder. I get distracted all year around, and it is stressful when you are trying to keep focused, but I try to keep things in perspective that most of the distractions are due to an abundance of good choices.

ReplyDeleteThey were a little plain, so I added the strips along the edge. It helped a lot I think! I hope to finish up a couple projects in the next couple days and then I can do an entire 'shelf' of cacti!
