Replenishing Some Favorites

I've been on the straight and narrow lately by not buying fabric.  It got to the point where I was overwhelming myself!  I went cold turkey!

However, there is always a need for yardage in solids.  For backing, for whatever.  In my case I needed more for a project I have been working on.  Kona Nautical is perhaps my favorite of the deep dark blues and Kona Silver is a good neutral to always have on hand.

I ran out of Nautical which I have paired with...wait for it...Kona Highlight!  Yep!  Another Highlight project!  This project involves paper piecing, which I do love!

In the end the finished squares will be 2"!  I had an idea and decided to just run with it. What I will do with it remains to be seen.  I just keep making blocks, and trimming them up.

Because I'm sure it will all come together eventually.  At least that's what I keep telling myself!

Because I'm not sure how it will all come together and I still have a long, long way to go...I'll share some Quilting Porn instead!

I think I have nearly 200 blocks, but I'm looking to double that in the coming weeks.  It should be enough for my idea.  If not, back to the drawing board!

Paper piecing always mesmerizes me.  Just look at that perfection!  Naturally, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

  1. Kona Nautical is definitely my favorite of the deep blues, too. I am definitely curious about what you are up to, and I hope that the paper piecing continues to go well. :)

    1. You are a blue one!! I've been paper piecing a batch here and there, knowing it's going to take some time. It isn't easy putting a project to the side, I want to go full force but know I just need to have patience with this one!

  2. Beautiful and precise work. I don't use blues as much as I should, and have been slowly buying some for my stash. What are your favorites color combinations with blues?

    1. I don't really have a go to color combination with blue. I mean, other blues and turquoise are always nice. Or orange and I do love it with the Kona Highlight! It's hard introducing colors into our world…but it is fun to try!

    1. I can say it is going to be super modern! I don't ever use just two colors in a quilt…so we shall see how this pans out! I'm trying to take my time with this one, especially since I'm not sure what the heck I doing or where I'm going!

  9. That is a ridiculous number of wee bits. I can't wait to see what that Highlight/Nautical combo turns into. Silver is one of my fav Konas too... as if I can say I have just one!

  10. Any tips on removing the paper? Do you use a particular brand of paper?I always feel like I'm pulling the seams too much and make them all wacky. I never know when to take the paper off when putting together the sections - after the PP section is done, after assembling the whole block, aahh! I'm not a huge PP fan, but I did design a block and dang! it worked just like I hoped it would! I love the stack of perfectly pieced squares, so pretty!
