I Adore Mini Mini's

For those who stop by my blog with any regularity, you know this already.  The mini mini craze hit me and hit me hard.  That being said, I have one more to share with you.

This was my last entry in the #MMminimini for Make Modern Magazine.  I just made the deadline by the skin of my teeth!

I was making some 7" heart blocks for #QUILTSFORPULSE, and the idea hit me as I was carefully trimming the small corners.  I don't usually save the tiny corners, but for this mini mini I was going to make an exception.

Many would say this is a crazy craze...I say perhaps you are right, I don't disagree!  It is fun and it is challenging.

This little love has 36 - 1/2" squares.  All packed in a 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" square.  Seriously, I would never make a real quilt with squares this size...that would be crazy!

After cutting the 1" squares and laying them out, I thought it was going to be too big!  I quickly came to my senses!

The quilting is a simple grid, the bind hand stitched, the deadline to enter was met!

If you haven't made a mini mini yet, you really should!  Like I said, it's a challenge.  They are a quick and rewarding finish too!  You will swoon with pride when you see that tiny mini in the palm of your hand!  I promise!

  3. It's like they keep getting smaller and smaller! This one is too cute. So are you actually piecing these or paper piecing?

    1. I love the challenge of making them as small as I can, depending on design! There was no paper piecing associated with this one. Just good old corner scraps that needed to be used. At least this one time!

  4. Just when I think you can't make a mini-mini any smaller, you do!

    1. The size of this one was dictated by the left over corners from my heart blocks. I normally don't keep those tiny pieces, but it had to be done this time!!

    1. I've found that if you hold a mini mini or use some sort of prop, like a ruler, you can really get a much better sense of just how tiny these mini mini's are! Even if you add the measurements, a visual is so much easier! And yes…love is love!

  7. Fabulous teensy finish; you make me want to put together some (yup, cray-cray) tiny HSTs I've saved and sewn back together and make my own little heart!

    1. I had to draw the line on certain sizes of HST corners! I'm crazy some of the time…so are you…so go and make yourself a heart!

  8. It is cute, but I refuse to believe that this is your heart. I know that your heart is full of joy and creativity which would show up as way more colorful!!!

    1. I think it would be a great gift for anyone too! Thinking of you, birthday or just because…you can never have a bad day when you receive a quilt regardless of it's size, in my opinion of course!
