I decided to enter four quilts. What are the odds that one would get in? With the amount of talent and quilts that are submitted, I didn't have a lot of hope. But I was determined to try and try I did!
Much to my surprise and amazement two of the four were accepted! Seriously! Once I got over the shock, I soon became elated!
Would you like to know which ones made it and which ones didn't?
Super Star Thistle |
Confetti |
The ones accepted actually surprised me. Both of these were ones I debated about entering and lo and behold, they made it in the show!
Revitalized |
And my last entry + acceptance:
Phantom Triangles |
We all know juried shows are totally subjective. What one loves here, one might not there. I learned that I can do this, that I can take chances and not totally fall apart in panic! I may just try again in the near future as I'm sure it gets easier the more you try!
Both quilts are labeled, have a beautiful hanging sleeve and are on their way to California!
I wish I was heading to L.A. with my quilts! Next year Nashville 2019...I'll be there!
Congratulations on getting your quilts into the show! I'm totally surprised they didn't all get in!
ReplyDeleteI would have had a heart attack if all four made it! I’m thrilled that I will finally have something to show for myself and hope people enjoy them when the show opens!
DeleteCongratulations on your acceptances! Why am I not surprised? So sad you won't get to see them hanging. We all need to have a goal of entering in Nashville next year.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome, I knew something big was happening as I felt the ground shaking, LOL, now I know it was you doing the happy dance!!
ReplyDeleteYou probably did feel and hear my excitement! Once they arrive in California I can finally relax and quit stressing. After that…it’s out of my hands!
DeleteCongrats on having your quilts accepted into the show!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all your submissions! Unfortunately they can't all get accepted, but whether they made it or not, they are all great!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with PegP! This is a super bunch of quilts...and the fact you had 4 to even potentially go is a lot! It does not surprise me in the least that you will have quilts hanging at QuiltCon....don't honestly think it would be complete without a touch of TwiggyandOpal! Congratulations, Jayne! Such an accomplishment to even submit entries!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep an eye out for your quilts for sure, Jayne. I'm so glad you took a chance and submitted to the show!!
ReplyDeleteall four are beautiful! I can't wait to visit your two in Pasadena. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! That is so cool!
ReplyDeleteAll four are stunning! I'll be sure to take pictures for you! <3
ReplyDeleteCongrats. Nadine W. N.Cali
ReplyDeleteCongrats! They are all wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great talent. Congrats on the entries hope you get a ribbon.
ReplyDeleteI was so pleased to see you’d got quilts in the show. It’s hard to work out why some and not others but as you say it’s subjective. I suppose the only commonality is that the two that got in were more obviously not symmetrical. But I think your approach of creating, often through experimentation and play, stunningly original quilts is the way to go!! Good luck. Like you I shall be enjoying the show from afar.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! The quilts are lovely and deserve every possible accolade!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Getting two in is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's fascinating to see which quilts make and which don't. Are there trends that persist from year to year? Is the modern style evolving in a particular direction? What instructions (if any) are the jurors given? It's a mystery to me :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Two out of four is awesome. Here's to a win at the show.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your two quilts Jayne! Lo-o-ove that Super Star Thistle though!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on having two quilts in the show! I look forward to seeing them (I will send you pictures).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jayne. The green one is a favorite of mine. Wish I was going to QuiltCon to see it in person. Your work is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Jayne! On your first try entering, too!! I love all of them, but especially the green one.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! And it just goes to show that you never know until you try!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jayne, if anyone epitomises modern quilting it is you, I am so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about judges etc. You just never know! Congrats on the two accepted. "Revitalized" is definitely my favorite. Wish I could see it in person.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Jayne! That is so awesome! You are an amazing and creative quilter, I have no doubt that we'd see your quilts hanging at QuiltCon. It was just a matter of getting up the nerve to put yourself out there. That's always the hardest part. Congrats again! I'll look forward to hopefully seeing something of yours hanging in Nashville and maybe meeting you then!
