I began sewing when I was a girl in school, but it was always a casual interest… that is, until 2005 when my daughter Britt taught me how to quilt. She begged me relentlessly to learn, and I finally decided to try it, mostly so she would stop bugging me. Little did I know then that I would come to love quilting with a passion I never knew I had! Besides quilts, I enjoy making other things, from pillows to table runners, kitchen accessories and more. My process may be a little unconventional—I let the fabric speak to me and rarely know where a design will take me from start to finish! That is one of the things I love about quilting and sewing: there are no rules!

Then in early 2013, after over 13 years working in retail, I finally had the opportunity to pursue quilting full-time. Now, if I could only get all my ideas from my brain to the cutting table...always a work in progress!

ReplyDeleteYou are off to a roaring start with your Blog! (Maybe this is the kick in the pants I've been needing to get one going, too!) It looks fabulous - I wish you all the success and happiness in the world, dear friend. P.S. Love your photo in the midst of a quilt, too!
ReplyDeleteDear Jayne, you are truly an inspiration. Your work is stunning and I am so happy to have one of your works of art. Love and kisses, Debbrah

ReplyDeleteI'm Beth, also from Nashville and I recently joined the a Music City MQG and I was so disappointed that the Feb. meeting (my first) was cancelled but I look forward to the March meeting. I would love to become involved in any community sewing projects. I hope to see you at the next meeting.
ReplyDeleteYou know I have been following you for quite a while now, Jayne..... But I love how you have updated your About Page and added a new picture. You are beautiful and it is so nice to see your smiling face! However... it's hard to recognize you now. I was so accustomed to seeing your feet. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking at my about page…It doesn't happen often! Honestly, I was in full make-up and hair curled for this one! You may be the only one who could pick me out by my feet!
DeleteJayne, could you email me, please at pcjwikander@hotmail.com? I want to ask you something...don't know how else to get ahold of you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special post to read. It sounds like you have a sweet relationship with a very special daughter. The quilt is beautiful and captures that southwestern look nicely. Thanks for sharing your design process. It is always enlightening to see how others create!
