Sweet Surprises and Blogger Friends!

I sometimes get this overwhelming fear that you are going to forget about me if I don't post something!  I really do!  When I have numerous post, I think they have got to be getting sick of me!  I don't know where the sweet spot is, and I'm going err on the side of caution...because I really don't want you to forget about me...see, I'm so needy!

I do have a few things in the works, but nothing that is worthy of sharing yet.  So, why not toot the horn of a few friends?!  You know it and I know it, there are no better friends than our quilty bloggy friends!  What would we ever do without this amazing community of kind, talented and inspiring people we meet nearly everyday on the internet?

I received a wonderful surprise in the mail yesterday!  What makes it so special?  I did not expect it at all!  I am a hard person to surprise.  Surprise and shock!   But this little lady did just that to me!

Sarah who blogs at Cedar Fork Stitches, sent me a sweet little surprise!  You know the Mini Mini Quilt Craze, tiny little quilts the perfect size for a little imp...I love me a mini mini!

Surprise, surprise!  From the 'Big Sky Country', Sarah made a special little quilt just for me! I love the colors and love that they are set off with a shadow.  I know where that came from!!

I was not expecting this at all, but the real surprise is on the back!  Are you ready?  This is hilarious!  For reference...this mini is 3 3/4" square.

Only Sarah would put hanging corners on a mini mini!  I about wet myself when I say that!! It makes me almost want to torture my husband by making him cut a board to hang it!!

Note the Shot Cotton on the back...Sarah...do you know me, or what?!  I was completely shocked and totally blown away!

Speaking of blown away!  I am always amazed, shocked and so, so happy when someone actually uses my tutorials and shares their project with me!  I can't imagine any thing better than that when it comes to my quilting journey.

I made a Charm Pack Shadow Block tutorial a while back, and recently Peg shared her project on Instagram.  Really how amazing is this?  Total Spring, and the shadow is just pure perfection!

I seriously get butterflies in my stomach when I see what others have made from one of my tutorials!  It's got to be the dream we all have, inspiring others.  Thank you Peg, I really love this version of my tutorial and thank you so very much!

Then you know those retreats...where we attend and spend every single waking hour quilting?  Where we need yet another weekend to recover from out weekend?  I've only done one and can not wait to feel the after effects of another!

Sweet Anja, who has been a steady commenting buddy on my blog for quite sometime. You know her... she is one who is a faithful follower and a constant, if you don't know Anja...check out her blog:  Anja Quilts.  Anja recently went on her first retreat with her guild. My advice to her was to bring lots of projects and pre-cut if you can!!

I recently finished a tutorial for a 'Mini Charm Square Wonky Block' and Anja decided it might be a good retreat project to take along with her!

And it was!  It is such a quick and easy tutorial for those mini charm squares we all have laying around!  I love the whimsical, yet wild side of this one!  Frankly, it's just fun!  You have bright, a bit wonky, a little ca-razy, and a whole lot of perfect!  I'm so happy this was one of Anja's projects for her first guild retreat!

Thank you Sarah, Thank you Peg and Thank you Anja!  You guys are the best...of the best!

  1. Hi Jayne! That was surely the sweetest surprise! I looove that mini! Quilting blogger friends are so important! I won't have much time for sewing or blogging all the long summer and do hope that my friends still remember me in autumn. Hugs! x Teje

  2. Jayne, you could post twice a day, and I wouldn't tire of you! If my queue weren't so tight right now, I'd finish up one of your mini charm wonky quilts too. Summer is coming... Summer is coming! And kudos to Sarah, Peg and Anya for theirs!

  3. Nope I don't tire of your posts either! They are always fun. Love the other gal's projects, I am going to work on another wonky table runner today at sewing with friends day. I need to make one of your charm shadow ones too. I agree bloggy friends are the best, I never thought about that aspect when I started my blog. Oh you could just cut a skewer to size for that mini mini!

    1. I appreciate your comments always and thank you for sharing the projects you have made from my Mini Charm Wonky Block! I've been wanting to play with that one lately, I just think its fun! I think that little mini mini will get some kind of stick, it kind of has to have it to complete it now!!

  4. I say post whenever you are moved to do so - people can read them when they want...wish I had more time to post more myself...wish I had more time to create (sigh). I'm hoping things will slow down a bit in June. Cross your fingers for me.

    1. I wonder if I will ever become a balance person!! Blogging, quilting, life…it may not be in the cards for me, but I'm having fun trying! Staying busy is a good thing unless you want to be busy with something else! I hope things settle down for you in June…crossing my fingers for you!

  6. you are just hilarious. And my twin. I was just saying, in almost the same words, your first two sentences to my husband two days ago. Same concerns. He said write every day. Someone will read, someone will drop out of exhaustion. How exciting to see others have been inspired to use your tutorials. So many books and lessons out there and they chose yours! Yea! And so will I as I want to do your shadow quilt! Thanks, and if you write every day, or only once a week, I'll read because I wised up and get your posts by email.

    1. I am so happy to know I'm not alone on the subject of not wanting to be forgotten! I've tried over the past year to gain a following, get a foot hold and I feel if I don't stay the course…I'll lose all the hard work I've put in! So what do we do??! Keep plugging along. I appreciate all the support along the way…your on my list too!

  7. Oh Jayne, when I check my blogs on Bloglovin you are one of those that I notice if you haven't posted for a few days and check in case I have missed it. As for being needy as a new blogger with a small number of followers I totally emphasise with that one. Why do I follow you? Well, I follow quilters who have good content, yes, but I prefer quilters who have good content and I like as a person, like you.

    1. Thank you Kate! You made my day by your kind comment!! We work very hard to keep our blogs going, you know what I mean! The icing on the cake is getting positive comments on the work we do, supportive people and friendships from others we would never have met otherwise! You just reinforced all that and more!

  12. Hahahaha! I love your first paragraph -- we couldn't forget about you! I do remember your Charm Pack Shadow Block tutorial, and Peg's version is awesome. The contrast between the bright charms and shadow gray is spot-on. I bet you're tickled when you see your work inspire someone else. : )
